Haroset sweetball | Dry fruits ladoo

Haroset also known as charoset is a Jewish Dish. Charoset is made of chopped nuts spiced with cinnamon  and sweet wine. For binding you can use honey or sugar too. I used maple syrup which was also good.  Some part of the Jewish use apples too. The most wonderful thing in this recipe is, 'no cooking'  is involved in this recipe.

Involve kids in this, they can roll into their choices. A very nutritious and healthy food. An nice way to start your day.

I got this recipe from a "One world vegetarian cookbook". I liked most of the recipes from that book. Will try to update some from that.

Ingredients:
  • Dates - 2 cups
  • Raisins - 1/2 cup
  • Sultanas - 1/2 cup
  • Walnut - 1/2 cup
  • Blanched almonds - 1/2 cup (optional)
  • Cinnamon - a pinch
  • Maple syrup or honey - 2 tbsp

 Method:

If using almonds soak for half an hr and remove the skin. Put all the ingredients in a processor. Make a mixture that sticks together.

Put some waxed paper on a baking sheet. Take a teaspoon and using clean oily hands roll them into balls. Put in refrigerator for 2 hours.

Note:
  • You can use sweet red wine or honey instead of maple syrup.
  •  Any nuts can be added of your choice.
