Sodhi

Sodhi is a Tirunelveli traditional recipe. They call it as 'Mapilai sodhi' too because they serve in groom house for the bride family.

Whoever likes Thai food will sure like this. This can be served with plain white rice or appam. This can be done without adding moong dal too but it will not go together well. If you like to be little watery you can avoid dal.

Ingredients:

Mixed vegetables (drumstick- 1, potato -1, carrot -1, Brinjal- 1)
Moong dal - 2 tbsp
Coconut milk - 1 cup
Small onions - 5
Green chilly - 3
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - as per taste

To temper:

Coconut oil - 2 tsp
Mustard - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves - 5

Method:

Boil the moong dal and chop the veggies in big chunks.

In a sauce pan, add water (or coconut third milk) and boil the veggies with small onion and green chillies. Add the cooked dal after 5 minutes add coconut milk and water to sambhar consistency boil for few minutes. Do not over boil, otherwise the coconut milk will curdle.

In a small pan add the ingredients given to temper and add in the sodhi.
