Haroset sweetball | Dry fruits ladoo


Haroset also known as charoset is a Jewish Dish. Charoset is made of chopped nuts spiced with cinnamon  and sweet wine.For binding you can use honey or sugar too. I used maple syrup which was also good.  Some part of the Jewish use apples too. The most wonderful thing in this recipe is, 'no cooking'  is involved in this recipe.

Involve kids in this, they can roll into their choices. A very nutritious and healthy food. An nice way to start your day.
 
I got this recipe from a "One world vegetarian cookbook". I liked most of the recipes from that book. Will try to update some from that.

Tindora curry

I have prepared fry with tindora, and had no knowledge of doing curry with that. My neighbor often do this, then started doing her method. This curry is very rich in taste and can be a side for any rice or roti's.

Whenever my mom prepares variety rice the side will be papad, vathal or raitha depending upon the dish. But nowadays we need side for any rice. I usually prepare less spice in the variety rice and add more in side, so that the kids can have the main dish with raitha.This tindora curry is perfect side for carrot rice

Vanilla-chocolate cake

I wanted to prepare layer cake for so long. But I was not so sure how to cut the cake and do frosting. While searching for a simple frosting my eyes got into sour cream frosting. It was so simple and very easy to prepare and it was not so heavy, so  didn't have a guilty conscious of having more :)

Since I brought sour cream more, I thought of using it in cake too. The cake turned so good. For the top layer I used Betty crocker chocolate frosting mixed with sour cream. Try this simple cake.

Spicy corn on the cob

Usually I used to pressure cook the corn with salt and take it as such, but this time thought of trying with spice. Red chilly powder and salt with lemon juice tastes so good. It is great for barbecue parties in summer.

If you don't like it too spicy try adding pepper, salt and lemon juice.  Once you try this you will not choose the other way of having it. An easy snack, ready in 5 minutes.

Focaccia bread

I have never thought of baking bread before, tried eggless raisin bread once. Then I tried this flavorful focaccia bread.It was too soft and have its own aromatic flavors of herbs.

The herb oil can be prepared of your choice, try using fresh basil leaves, rosemary or any herbs. Soaking herbs in oil enhance the flavor of oil and penetrates into bread when dimpling the dough.

Kuruma kuzhambu

Kuruma kuzhambu is a south Indian dish which is served with rice.  We usually prepare kuruma for roti and puri's. The addition of tamarind and red chilly tastes good with rice. But no hard and fast rule you can have it with dosa or idli too. My MIL was the one who prepared this.

Oatmeal banana smoothie

This is a perfect and healthier breakfast for a quick preparation. For this smoothie you can add apple or banana of your choice.  Add milk or yogurt. This smoothie is a basic preparation, try to add or reduce the ingredients of your choice.

Since I want to give this smoothie to my kids, I added nesquik. If your kids love strawberry flavor you can try that too. Try soaking almonds or dates and mix in smoothie for more healthier. This is an wholesome food that your tummy will be cooled and filled.

Tortilla noodles

I have to use half of the tortillas before expiry date, so thought of  making noodles with that, I usually do with left over rotis. With tortilla it tasted good. Just roll the tortillas and cut into strips and use your own imagination to make yummy noodles.

Vegan dates cake

This cake is free of  dairy items and baked with water, I wondered how will it taste. So want to try for a long time. The cake turned out so good. Dates and brown sugar gives nice color for this cake. If you like, add walnuts or any nuts of your choice. If adding white sugar reduce the sugar.
