Mustard Greens with spinach

When I went shopping with my friend she told me to try the mustard greens. It has a little bitterness taste. But when combined with spinach the taste is different.

In winter the Punjabi's usually prepare this greens called "sarson ka saag"  with corn flour rotis. It lasts for long even if you do not refrigerate. Idle for travel too.

Ingredients:

Mustard greens - 2 cups
Spinach - 2 cups
Green chilly - 2 or pepper
Oil - 2 tsp
Onion - 1
Garlic - 3 pods
Ginger - 1 tsp (grrated)
Salt - as per taste

Method:

Wash the greens and boil them with green chillies if using. Mash it using a blender, make sure not to blend too much.

In a wide pan with 2 tsp of oil add grated ginger, chopped garlic pods and onions. Cook till onions are transparent. Add the mashed greens and salt and simmer for 15 minutes. If it is watery corn meal can be added. After it is thickened switch it off.

Serve with Indian breads or Corn tortillas.

Note:

Cheese and butter can be added in greens for more flavor and richness.
