Idiyappam or string hopper is a traditional dish in Kerala prepared with rice flour. Steamed dishes are always good for health. When sick, the doctor suggest us to have idli or idiyappam in India, in other countries too the white bread or food is suggested when your tummy is upset or any kind of sickness. Food prepared with rice or easy to digest.
This can be taken as plain with any side dish or can be prepared as sevai.
Ingredients:
Method:
In a bowl mix rice flour and salt. Boil the water till it reaches big bubbles. Switch it off. Immediately start mixing with rice flour.
Mix through a spatula (If you feel it is watery, do not add more water). When the dough is warm grease your hand with oil and make a soft dough (This step is not necessary too). Grease the idli or idiyappam plates.
Grease the idiyappam maker and add the dough into it. Start pressing gently in your greased plate.
Repeat this for all dough. Steam the idiyappam for 10 minutes.
Serve with vegetable kurma or coconut milk.
