The whole world is celebrating valentines day. All the shops have wonderful roses and choclates, I love those colors but somehow i am not fond of valentines day. Ok, Let's move to food.
Celery when combined with rice gives a mild flavor of the sticks. The coconut milk gives a nice white color and tastes great. In India we get celery in Nilgris. Since the rice has less spice and flavors you can have a spicy side dish or with Brinjal curry.
Ingredients:
Basmati rice - 2 cup
Celery sticks - 3
Coconut milk + water - 1 cup + 2 cup
Ginger - garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Onion - 1
Green chilly - 3
Butter - 1 tsp
Cloves, cinnamon - 1 tsp
Method:
In a wide pan add 1 tsp of butter or oil add cloves and cinnamon. Add slitted green chillies, onion and ginger garlic paste. Cut the celery sticks into small chunks and combine them.
After 2 mins add 2 cups of water and 1 cup of coconut milk with salt. While it starts to bubble add the soaked rice. Cook the rice in the same pan with covered or transfer into cooker.
Variations:
Instead of celery sticks, peas can be added.
The coconut milk can be replaced with water.
I am really happy to receive this award from my blogger friend Poonam.
