kathirikai murungakkai kootu is prepared with toor dal. This has a special aroma because of the veggies. Unfortunately I did not have any aroma because I used frozen drumsticks. Drumstick and brinjal kootu taste very nice if the veggies are good. A very simple kootu which can be done quickly if you have cooked toor dal. HEY!!!! No blender for this kootu. Just mixing and stirring for a protein rich kootu.
Ingredients:
To temper :
Method :
Pressure cook the toor dal. In a medium stock pot heat 1 cup of water. Add drumstck and brinjal with little salt. Cover and cook for 10 minutes or until the vegetables are tender. Then add the cooked dal in sauce pan. After 2 minutes add red chilly powder and salt.
Then make a paste of rice flour and milk and add in the kootu. This process is to make the kootu thicker consistency. Boil till it thickens. Heat a small fry pan add all the ingredients given to temper in order. After mustard seeds splutters transfer to kootu.
